Hi Cindy and Vickie,
Looks like the last bloodwork done on 11/11/08
had a HCT of 39.1%. That is just slightly below normal,
so no need for a transfusion and no need to worry about
such a slight anemia. However if his heart was enlarged
on an X-ray then an ultrasound should be done to determine
what is causing the heart to be enlarged (ie dilated or
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). If the lypmph nodes are
enlarged then it is time for a biopsy to determine the cause
of the lymphadenopathy. In the mean time, I would treat
for at least 3 weeks for his coccidia and see if that improves
his GI signs.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
