Coming in as a third party to try to facilitate
communications is a terribly difficult task,
and anyone doing so has to count on a
number of people for cooperation.
I don't think that the confusion is because
of your efforts. You took people from
knowing next to nothing about this ferret
to having some data, but you have no control
over so much as a third party, you are not
the client so the vets will not be legally able
to discuss things directly with you, and the
symptoms and history on this ferret are
just plain confusing. You did not make them
confusing. They are confusing all on their
own.
So, give yourself a pat on the back for very
kind and good work, Cindy, but know that
this is a situation where even more things
are out of your control than when tackling
confusing health in your own ferrets. I
doubt that anyone could have done better than
you did.
Hopefully, sticking to one vet, finding ways to
facilitate communication, and letting the vet
lead the investigation and make the choices
(after discussion, obviously) will find that a good
conclusion is possible.
