i was in a rush earlier and wasn't pleased with my wording :) i did
make the point clear though, about the pedialyte.

katherine, i don't know if what you're saying about the pedialyte,
when it's mixed with something like soup, is correct.

i do know that when i was faced with a dehydrated ferret and was
going to use pedialyte to supplement, i did a lot of investigation
about it (as i do with anything for the little ones). i contacted
the company directly and spoke, at length, about many issues with
the person the answered at their call center...haha, i asked a ton
of questions and she had to put me on hold numerous times to get the
answers. she learned a few things during the conversation, too!

i also spoke with the pharmacist (actually two different ones at the
same place because i called back later with additional questions)
and i also spoke with my vet.

all agreed that the pedialyte should be used alone to get the
benefit of what it is there for and that mixing it with anything
(even water) upsets the balance of the various nutrients in it. it
was also stated to give a little time between food and the
pedialyte - again, so as to not interfere with the properties of it.

which is a very good point (and not on the packaging) - whether you
are using the stuff for your fur kid, your human kid or yourself!

one thing about the stuff that bothered me is that the flavored
types (both the liquid and the frozen pops) have artificial
flavorings in them...not something i'd want to be giving - to either
animal or human, so i'd only ever suggest that the unflavored one be
used (even if it does taste a bit nasty)
