Subject: [ferrethealth] Question about canned dog food for ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My girl Fizzle is 7 1/2 yrs old, is adrenal, gets melatonin implant
for it, is insulinomic, gets pred for it, and we believe has IBD, BUT
she's still hanging in there. I have been making her soup from EVO
canned rabbit dog food, mixed with a little pumpkin, fish oil and vit
E. As long as she eats her soup and dosen't eat the others chicken
soup, her poops are ok. Last week when I went to buy more food, they
were out and couldn't get any for a couple of weeks. I tried looking
for it at several other stores in a 40 mile radius, but the parent
company, Natura, which is in Calif, is having problems getting it
out. Anyway, I tried another brand that has no grain and is 95%
rabbit, it's called Instinct. The pet store owner recomended it.
Fizzy eats it and seems to have really good poops on it, but when I
blended it up I noticed it has carrots, peas and other veggies. My
question is, should I switch her back to the EVO when it comes in,
being it has no veggies and no grains and is 95% meat, or leave her
on the Instinct that has veggies in it, is 95% meat and no grains,
but she has good poops on it? If the veggies are blended up to a
puree, will she still having problems digesting it?
The price of the dog food is about the same for each brand, about
$3.39-$3.99 a can.
I've started giving Fizzy Vivify by Totally Ferret and along with the
canned food, seems to help, it has emu oil in it.
