Luckily, if memory serves me right Canine
Distemper is not a risk in your area. Am I
correct on that count?

I'd like you and your vet to consider doing
a chest x-ray, specifically looking to see
it the thymus is enlarged as happens with
JL (Juvenile Lymphoma) which can go to
the Cnetral Nervous System.

Certainly, there are other possibilities.

BTW, ferrets do not get colds; and colds,
being a rhinovirus caused disease do
not respond to antibiotics. Since the
antibiotics worked your ferret had a
bacterial respiratory infection.

There is a need for testing this ferret:
imaging he chest, imaging the abdomen,
doing a CBC and doing a Chemistry Panel.
Without enough info everything remains
guesswork.
