Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Question about canned dog food for ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I am having the same problem. I have just 1 can left of it from the 2
cases I got in early August. I called Natura last week and was able to
get transferred to their manufacturing plant. I spoke with a lady who
said a batch of the Evo Rabbit in cans in currently in process however
will not be complete until January, so given the distribution network
I don't think you can expect anything in stores until late Jan early
Feb. They have been out of stock for 3 months. I also called Natura
again and spoke to sales to inquire if any distributors had any stock
on hand. They said last ship date was in June/July so they didn't
expect it. I have a voicemail message waiting for the East Coast sales
rep who handles Florida waiting for him to come into the office today,
asking for help finding any leftover stock, but I am not hoping for much.

In the meantime we are switching our 8 yo hob Charlie back to A/D and
8 in 1 cans.

Too address Sukie's concern, we have always mixed the Evo Rabbit with
about 1/3 ground ferret kibble (pretty pets natural gold) or Evo small
dog bites, both of which contain Taurine added (Evo small dog bites
has 0.06 mg/kg Taurine while the Evo Rabbit dog food has 0.08 mg/kg)
however, since I am not sure what is the RDA of taurine (assuming a
ferret eats =BD to =BE cup dry food or about 4x 30ml daily of wet food) I
have not run the math to double check the minimum RDA of taurine was
being achieved. Our little old guy has stopped eating kibble after
recovering from a snout/ jaw injury during Sep/Oct. While he is over
it and okayed by the vet , he has not returned to eating hard food yet.
