Subject: [ferrethealth] Trouble introducing a new guy...
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi Everyone:
I need your help. I brought home a new ferret around a month
ago. He is a very shy boy (I think he=B4d never seen another ferret
before) and I=B4m having trouble introducing him to my bussiness.

I have 4 ferts: 2 boys and 2 girls, and he gets along ok with 3
of them. The only problem is our alpha male who bites him quite hard
every time we put them together. Now, they are in two different
rooms. Our new guy is in the ferret room with our girls and one boy,
and the alpha (aggressive) ferret is our own room.

They slept together once and they once ate from the same bowl,
but when we let them free roam together they start fighting. The
alpha male bites the new guy quite hard and chases him, and the new
boys runs away screaming. Some times he also turns back to the alpha
and they start biting each other on the neck. At this point I
separate them because I feel there=B4s too much agression.

Should I leave them to fight out their differences or what can I
do? They=B4ve never drawn blood so far, but they bite each other hard.
I need your advice, I don=B4t want to give up the new guy. He is
sooooo sweet. I got him from the local dog shelter and wouldn=B4t want
him to go back there again.=20

Many thanks,

Luciana.
