Subject: [ferrethealth] Hamburg
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi all!! Thank u.,so much for replys to my ? regarding raw hamburg. My
ferret is almost 4 months old.,and I'm trying to get him used to a
little of everything.,so I don't have the problems I've had in the
past.,I even supplement via syringe so he's used to this in case of
sickness later.. For the most part I mix totally ferret with marshals
food and solid gold all together.,roasted chicken I grind all up and add
to his food as well sometimes.,gerber stage 2 ect. I suffer from a few
autoimmune issues so as part of my own healing through weston price
traditions I found a very reputable dairy farm here in nh.,and started
drinking raw milk.,as well as the ferret.,I'm aware of the problems and
ow carefull u need to be with this and I have studyed this as well as
nutrition extensively.,and this particular place uses above and beyond
the sanitation principles.. I wanted to supplement peanut with raw goats
milk.,but its not as available as the raw cows milk.I would not give him
regular milk.,as ferrets don't digest it well.,but for those of u
familiar with raw milk.,this is not the case...I even just recently got
kefir grains.,the real ones.,and started making raw milk kefir and raw
milk yogurt.,and give him a little of these daily as well. I know the
beliefs that ferrets don't have the same bacteria via the gut that
humans due.,but I have my own view on this.,and that all living
things.,animals and humans need these friendly bacteria to build and
keep the immune system up. A lot of people are not aware that 80% of
you're immunity is in the gut.. I chose not to vaccinate this little guy
as in the past 18 plus yrs.,I have had problems even with the prior
benadryl administration.,and I believe the heavy metal carrier that
these vaccines contain are another cause of the ferret illnesses.,as
well as decending to early and weaning to early... He is an indoor
ferret.,and has no contact with anyone besides me and my family in mass.
Once every couple of weeks. These are only my beliefs and I don't expect
everyone to agree with this of coarse. I will try in the near future to
add some beef hearts/liver ect.,but have a hard time with whole prey.,I
agree with it being the most optimal diet to supplement you're
animals.,but its me that's the problem here.,I even find it hard to eat
meat.,was meat free for yrs.,but need the iron and nutrition that only
meat can trully deliver... I see a dead bird and I cry.,no exageration
here.,so I can't do the whole prey as of yet... I would like to add some
wysong raw freeze dried as I believe their food is excellent.,but its
costing me a fortune for what I'm already doing so will maybe add a
little later.,when I get that winning lottery ticket! All the
best.,Deb
