I read an article in a medical journal a few years ago when I was
researching glucosamine for my painful hip. This article documented a
case of a man with arthritis and also insulinoma. He was put on
glucosamine to treat his arthritis and low and behold his insulinoma
improved dramatically from several seizures a day to almost no
seizures at all. This was not verified because the man refused to
stop the glucosamine treatment and return to his pre-treatment
seizure rates to enable further investigation.
I passed this on to several well known vets as a possible treatment
for insulinomic ferrets and one US vet started a trial, after some
time I learnt that the trial had not been successful but that the vet
would carry one with an increased dose and that she had heard of
Canadian vet(s) who were doing a similiar trial. I have heard nothing
since. If anyone wishes to enquire further I can supply the name of
the vet confidentially if you contact me directly.
