Hi Casey,

Congratulations on your new family member!

I would strongly recommend getting 'Ferrets for Dummies' by Kim
Schilling, covers all the basics, plus sum. Good resource for
Newbies and experienced ferret persons alike. As well Dick
Bossart's 'Ferret Owner's Manual' is also excellent and available as
a free downloadable file: www.miamiferret.org/ferret_manual.pdf

Ferrets shed twice a year in general, spring and fall/early winter.
Just be sure to watch out for developing hair balls - something like
FerretLax given regularily during shedding season would do. I use
100% pumpkin in their daily duck soup, which also works. Check out
the FHL archives on other recommendations.
