Subject: [ferrethealth] Pleural Effussion
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a 3 1/2 year old whole hob that has been having breathing
problems. We have pulled fluids from his chest cavity 3 times in 4
weeks. He has had weekly x-rays, the last fluids pull are at the lab
and we are waiting on the pathology report to find out what kind of
pleural effusion we have. If I recall correctly, the initial report
noted that there were no cancerous cells, nor lymphocytes in the
fluids. He has been treated with (initially) amoxi and injectible
baytril (2 week protocal). Five days after the treatment stopped we
had to tap from the cavity again. We put him back onto injectiabe
baytril for a 3 week period (he is 2 weeks into this treatment). One
week after starting the current treatment he again had to have fluids
pulled. We added lasix twice a day to the protocol.

First I am looking for vets that would be willing to consult with my
vet (you can email me off list if you wish); and second I am looking
for suggestions on tests and treatment plans.

Thank you in advance.
