Subject: [ferrethealth] Bone tumor in tail just past the base - 7 years old going on 8 - surgery or not?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I assume the automatic answer is no. What do people think on the list?
I have never seen a ferret tail's amputated, I don't know if it's a
very quick procedure, or lengthy and painful. I only know of people
who have had the tips taken off.

Also, how long (typically) do these tumors take to spread? I just
noticed it a few weeks ago, unsure what it was, afraid perhaps she had
injured her tail. However, it's gotten a bit bigger.

I read in Exotic DVM that a vet noticed it takes about 3 years for the
cancer to spread. However, that was just one vet's opinion. I have
looked for more case studies and haven't found much.

If anyone has any info, I would be most appreciative.
