Thank you, Tressie. You hit the nail on the head. I don't understand
how they could have done a full necropsy and sent off multiple samples
to a pathology lab and still not be sure what kind of bacteria we're
dealing with. (If in fact it was a bacterial infection.)

This was my first experience with a necropsy, as all 5 of my previous
ferrets lived long, full, happy lives and their deaths were due to the
standard things. As such, and combined with my emotional state, I
wasn't aware of what to ask.

I'll post again when I get the records from the vet's office. (Their
copy machine is acting up and they're getting a new one this week.)
