Just a note. Ear thermometers for ferrets have to be twisty and to be tiny for the twisty
probe. Ear thermometers work by shining on the eardrum, but the outer ear canal in ferrets
makes close to 90' turn so a human ear thermometer would read from the canal where the
number of surface blood vessels is very different from the ear drum. The thermometer
would need to be a specialized one that not all vets would have. (Is that size with a twisty
laser probe even available?) The reason they work in humans is that we have such a
straight canal to the eardrum.
