I don't know if that is the kind of thermometer my vet uses. He is an
Exotics Specialist and has all kinds of specialized equipment he needs
for his various patients. He's never used a rectal thermometer in all
the time I've come to him, so I would have to assume it is the correct
one. But I'll check next time I'm in.

I do know he has a specialized ear probe for checking for ear mites that
most vets don't have and he is quite proud of that 'gadget' : )
