If this turns out to be a mutant of ECE then it
will be the second really terrible mutant of ECE.
The FIP-like illness is definitely one. This new
one sadly sounds like it had a good chance of
also being one.
Meanwhile. exposure to ECE (even a quiet one
as a kit) may be a cause of later IBD and possibly
more.
Thankfully, the genetic identification of the ECE
coronavirus and the FIP-like one have been done.
Hopefully, the funding will arise to get work from
that toward developing a vaccine or several.
Dr. Ruth, as you know, I am so sorry that you are
going through this.
