Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Spinal Infection
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

It's best to NOT start Pred without the vet first
checking blood glucose. There are two reasons.
The first is that it reduces the immune response.
The second is because diabetes can produce the
same symptoms as insulinoma and giving Pred
with that can cause serious and even fatal damage.

A second opinion could make sense. The
consulted vet will consider not only infection,
but chordoma, spinal lymphoma, injury,
saddle thrombosis, etc. and certainly more
gentle causes, as well.
See:
http://ferrethealth.org/vets/
for vets who have been recommended by FHL
members through the years.

For some mobility carts also see the FHL Archives:
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
which are very easy to use!
To start and then weed down you can just
put
cart or wheelchair or skateboard
in the box that is labelled
search message body for
and then hit the search button
from there you can begin to pick and choose
from subject lines and authors and skim till you
find useful info.
Also see: old photos in the FHL Files section, new
photos in the FHL photos section, and in
http://homepage.mac.com/sukie/sukiesferretlinks.html
which I need to get the time to update you will find

Chihuahua size diapers (but check to make
sure still in stock and note that none of these
have been reported on yet for how well they
do or do not work for ferrets):

(also consider small Preemie Diapers from baby
supply stores and make a tail opening)
Be careful if cutting a tail opening that you
don't slip with the blade while you are making
it before even putting it on the animal.

I don't think there is anything on this particular topic in
the FHL LInks section but I could be wrong, so check
that, too.
