One of our female ended up with impacted scent glands and had to have
them surgically removed. (It may have been my posting you found.) She
had a hard, round bump on each side of her anus that could not be
expressed empty. When we were able to express them a little, the smell
was SO much stronger than a normal poof but there was never any type of
fluid.
Did your vet feel what was expressed could have been puss from a
possible infection?
