Hi, I don't think there is a definitive answer to your query but I have
read suggestions that lack of bone, fur and feather in their diet can
increase the risk of impacted anal glands. In other words, as with
ourselves, a processed diet does not contain all they need to keep
their gut healthy.

Also people have found once the glands have got over filled like this
it does become chronic and they do need a squeeze every few months so
it is a good idea to ask you vet to show you how.

I'm not sure if adding raw to their diet will help now but it might be
worth a try. The easiest start for an animal that has never had raw is
day old chicks, they all seem to like them. Well mine do anyway.
