Subject: [ferrethealth] Update from Zoo, regarding illness
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Several days ago, we began to add probiotics and essiac tea to
their "simple soup". It appears to have helped.
Our thought was that the antibiotics were wiping most all of the
bacteria--even the GOOD stuff--so we decided it couldn`t hurt to
replenish that in their gut. We realize the antibiotics kill most of
the good bugs, but we are giving this in between doses of antibiotics.
As for Essiac--we have given this for years to our worst cancer
cases, our sickest intakes, the ones who seemed past help---even to a
couple who were bleeding out...Essiac contains slippery elm bark,
which is very soothing to the tummy. It is also thought to enhance
the immune system, rebuild red blood cells, and even fight
depression. We have found that it encourages them to eat. We brew our
own here.
Our good news is that they are ALL eating some kibble now!
Coordination has improved, & they`re playing again, for short periods
of time. Some have gained a (small) amount of weight.
I have seen one strange effect here, in the recovering / recovered
ones. Their muscle tone is slightly flacid--they seem "flabby" Could
a vet or other knowledgeable person pop up here & say if this is related
somehow to the severe dehydration they suffered???
There have been no new cases in a week. We are feeding the soup to
all who want it--and they do enjoy it.
Merry Christmas to all--I know OURS is sure brighter than I thought
it might be...
Love, Zoo
