I'm not sure what pictures you are talking about, so can't comment on
those specifically. That being said, I don't know how you can make
that judgment from a picture, or even a personal visit. People often
come into my home and ferret areas and comment on how clean
everything is. It's NOT clean, it's just orderly. I am obsessive
about "everything in its place" and it creates an illusion of clean
(pristine, antiseptic, etc). I can guarantee you that there are
cooties lurking everwhere. LOL

I have been into animal areas that are disgustingly filthy and
smelly. That is not acceptable, nor is it healthy. There is a big
difference between digging in the dirt (outdoors) and having a
contained (indoor) filthy environment. One is fairly natural, the
other is not. Dirt dig boxes inside can even become hazardous over
time, allowing for "things" to grow in it that wouldn't ordinarily in
an outdoor area in its natural state. And, even then, the outdoor
areas need to be cleaned up and moved around on a regular basis to
prevent the soil from becoming contaminated and stagnant. I'm not a
scientist, so this is all JMHO, and a little common sense, I think.

It is our responsibility to keep our homes, including pet areas,
CLEAN. I fail to see how basic day-to-day cleaning can create a
super bug or is putting any of us into a bubble. Now, if someone is
creating an environment, such as is found in a hospital, you may have
a point, but I don't see how that is even possible in a home or
shelter environment.

I'm sure you're not advocating filthy play environments in
order to strengthen the immune system. There is a balance between
healthy and unhealthy, and some is very obvious, but pictures are
probably not the best way to make that call.
