This is my second post on this subject! Im not sure why my post did not make it to the
group!

The ferrets in questions I know personally and the owner is a very very good friend of
mine!
She does NOT feed a raw diet! Just like myself, we free feed kibble and we get whole
chicken fryers ground up from a butcher in Coatesville, Pa. We then cook the chicken and
feed it to our ferrets. Unfortunately, my friend's last batch was slightly pink which led the
Dr to believe it's ecoli. The kidney values were so bad on admittance to the vet hospital
that some were over 200. All the ferrets were put on IV fluids for a number of days and all
survived.
Dr has spoken to Dr Ruth about this situation and will speak to anyone else.
Let me just say again that these ferrets are not fed a raw diet at all.

[If E. coli then she may be especially lucky, depending on the strain.
There are are shiga toxin producing strains which are easily fatal
for ferrets. Congratulations are extended on having no losses. --Mod]
