Subject: [ferrethealth] small lump on neck bleeding
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com, zoosferretsanctuary@verizon.net
I just found a 2 mm round and raised red area on my ferrets neck that he had
scratched that was bleeding. The mass is hard. No pus came out when I
applied pressure. I could not pull it off like a scab. Could a non ferret vet do a
biopsy of the tissue, or am I going to need to go to an exotic? Is there a
way to remove it without putting him completely under? Or should I wait and
see if it grows larger? It is close to the jugular.
The ferret is old, insulinomic, and had been close to death for several
months after I found him. A friend of mine pretty much brought him back from near
death. He had liver spots on his body until the Lupron kicked in and fur
filled in on his naked body. I rinsed the area with soap and water and applied
animax cream...a nystatin-neomycin sulfate thiostrepton-triamcinolone acetonide
cream. I have only had him home with me a few months.
I've seen fibro sarcoma. This is something only a mm. under the skin. It
feels like a pebble under the skin.
Does this sound like a chordoma?
