Please, never give a serious medication like Prednisolone or like
Prednisone casually.

While it is true that ferrets are not prone to the level or range of
problems with such steroids that humans are there are excellent
reasons to not give that med without the vet first clearing it. Here
are just three:

1: Infection
Steroids work as anti-inflammatory meds because they reduce the
response of the immune system, so if an infection is present there
is the risk of it worsening

2: Diabetes:
Because I don't know why you medicated for insulinoma I have to
wonder if there were additional symptoms. Diabetes can look like
insulinoma in the types of symptoms produced, and you will find
in looking at the archives that there have been those who assumed
that insulinoma was present and treated for it, only to have serious,
and in at least one case fatal, organ damage from the Pred further
lowering the amount of insulin present so the diabetes went wild.

3: Conditions that can be worsened.
Two examples are heart disease and ulcers

Now, if the ferret's nose was running to dislodge something
(dust, debris, thickened mucus.etc.), or in
response to infection, or due to another cause that could cause the
sneezing.

Giving something sugary would have gotten saliva flowing
and gotten the ferret swallowing more. The sinuses drain both forward
through the nose and backward down the throat so swallowing
could have resulted in some post nasal drip being swallowed and that
alone coould have temporarily reduced the sneezing just because of the
increase in drainage.

Influenza and sinus infections are certainly among the things a
ferret knowledgeable vet will consider if the problem continued
and vet care was sought.
