On reviewing materials later I see that this is considered the
same class of toxins as shiga toxin, and that in humans 5%
to 10% get the kidney complications. I do not know what
percentage of the ferrets do, but those with time to check the
recommended articles may find answers in those. (I am working
sporadically when we have a decent enough signal but the cable
company is planning more repairs to the post ice-storm
damage today so hopefully we'll soon not have times when
95% of the packets are dropping out.)
