Would the fluid need to be removed first to be able to control it?
Or does it depend on what is causing the fluid (heart disease,
lymphoma etc.)? When I had 2 ferrets with ascites (from cancer), the
Furosemide didn't do anything for them, just wondering what it's like
with fluid in the chest cavity.
In humans if it is pleural oedema due to heart failure, furosemide
can be very effective on its own, or in conjunction with other
diuretics but don't know if others are used in ferrets. If the fluid
is due to a carcinoma of some sort, most likely lymphoma in a ferret
i think, then drainage may be needed.
Hope it works for your guy and he is more comfortable soon.
