Just a BTW, there can be more serious pancreatic growths
which also cause drops in blood glucose, but they could
be rare. (Then again, they may be so likely to cause rapid
and unexpected death that some could be missed.)

In 27 years with ferrets we have had two who presented
suddenly with such severe glucose drops that both needed
mouth puff to muzzle artificial respiration, and the one
who needed that the most on the way to emergency care
also needed bodily warming.

The less serious of those who who came so close to dying
had lymphoma in the pancreas. She got 9 more months with
Pred, Proglycem (diazoxide generic was not available then and
Proglycem was so new that we had to purchase the dregs of
partially used bottles from a human hospital, but that was
sufficient given the dose sizes. She also absolutely HAD to
have dietary glucose available at all times and would crash
without that. Fritter was a very good patient and a stubborn
soul which perhaps served her well.

The more serious of the two had carcinoma in her pancreas
so we were lucky to get her an additional 3 months. She
needed both meds AND constantly available dietary glucose,
too, to avoid crashes. Ashling was a darling and a great
patient but all was against her.

Just a heads up that there can be alternative types of pancreatic
growths, and those may appear acutely and need somewhat
different approaches from insulinoma.
