Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: OK, need some insulinoma advice ASAP, please (XP)

My understanding is that pred is out of the system in about 9 hours - that is why some people split the dose to three times a day, i.e., every 8 hours as opposed to every 12 hours.

Ferrets are individuals, some are slow metabolizers, others quick. If splitting the dose appears to work better for her then it would make sense to do that. I am assuming she has food available all the time?

Is she on prednisone or prednisolone? Prednisolone is more efficiently metabolized and isn't as hard on the liver.
