Alright I'm going to try and respond to everyone because I forgot to mention a couple of things.
We have used carafate with a combination of other meds and of course his diarrhea cleared up then. The only thing that concerns me about it is inhibiting the absorption of his other medications. At this point it's still an option though.
Willy is currently being treated for the adrenal disease, he gets a monthly lupron shot. The first time he had adrenal disease we also did the monthly lupron and some of his hair did grow back but it did end up effecting his prostate. His prostate actually got so big that it completely cut off the flow of urine and he had to have emergency surgery to insert a catheter. He went about a year until he started showing symptoms of the adrenal disease returning but so far he's peeing normally so we're not worried about his prostate yet.
Lastly, the IBD was confirmed through a biopsy. He gets a blood test every three months to check his WBC count because of the azathioprine and it's at a safe level still. It is likely that he has some sort of cancer but he couldn't handle another surgery. He's been through three already and I didn't doubt for any of them that he'd be fine but he's just too old and ill to handle it. I just want to make him comfortable for the short time he has left. His meds right now are sustaining him. He's not improving or declining and his weight is steady and not fluctuating. Even though he's alright at this point, I'm still hoping there's something that will make it better than alright after none of the traditional treatments have worked.
Thank you everyone for your ideas, I'm going to discuss them with my vet next week.
