Subject: [ferrethealth] Giving pred tablets to a ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi,

Our vet decided to treat my Tocho with pred to help with his diarrhea (she's
now thinking IBD). I was given whole tablets and told it's easy to 'pill a
ferret.' I've never done this, and I'm a little scared to because I worry
about him choking on it. I know I can dissolve it in water, but for timing
sake... do these tablets take long to dissolve, and also.. do I need to mix
the pred with something? I don't know if this is nasty tasting stuff or
not, so I don't know if I should mix it with something and give with a
syringe, etc. or give it straight, dissolved with water?

Thanks.

Ella
