Subject: [ferrethealth] Update on Kitty the Ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Just took Kitty in to the vet for her BG reading yesterday. I was surprised
-- it was 59 -- much better than the 37 it was last time, though still too
low. Just waiting for mny vet to call me, since he was off
yesterday. Clearly, she needs an increase in her pred dose.

She started out on prednisolone, but for some dumb reason, my vet no longer
carries it, so for the last month she's been on regular pred. However, I've
already told him I want to go back to the prednisolone, and he was fine with
that.

I need to make another batch of soup, which I am NOT looking forward to.
The entire process, from start to finish, takes me hours (boiling the
chicken, boning it, pureeing everything, adding the various ingredients,
grinding the supplements, etc.), and for me, it's exhausting. I had hoped
that the last batch would last at least another week, but no such luck. :P
This time, I'm going to double it and see how long that lasts.

[Moderator's Notes:
Pharmacies also can fill veterinary prescriptions
for Prednisolone.

Many people these days no longer make their
own "soup" or "gravy" for the ferrets since there
are great options in the already prepared foods
for many types of illnesses, for instance, Carnivore
Care, a/d, etc.]
