Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret with Insulinoma
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

started out 2 days ago of course on a weekend. my ferret ,ZEEK,was acting very weird in sorts, kid of hobbling around you might say, and as of today had to be taken to the vets because of hind-end weakness. he was not using his back legs at all just kind of pulling himself along the floor with his front paws , but was still itching with his back feet , anyways, and still eating and drinking very good. I made a vet appointment right away and he did a blood glucose test , and it was 39, and i was told that normal should be 80-85. so beings he is 7 years old I opted out of the surgery and he put him on .10 cc of Prednisolone every 12 hours.

[How many mg in each ml? That will be written like mg/ml. There are
many possible concentrations. -- Moderator]

he said that I will have to keep an eye on him to see if maybe we have to raise or lower the dosage for him accordingly.

he weighs 2.10 pounds.

I just wanted to let you all know and will keep you updated on him as time goes. the vet said I should start seeing some results in him , as far as being able to use his hind-end again , in about a week or so.

he said that he also has some arthritis in his back, but the pred, should help with that also being it is a steroid. Any thoughts on that issue.
Thanks.
