Subject: [ferrethealth] seasonal message: avoid Halloween pet poisoning

Among the things that can kill ferrets but might be among Halloween
treats are:
Chocolate (the darker the chocolate is the more it may poison ferrets)
Natural Licorice (which can cause heart and heart pressure problems as
well as a pseudo-adrenal syndrome)
Raisins (cause unknown but the deaths in ferrets, dogs, and cats have
been investigated with obvious possible causes eliminated, and among
things under study is that they might deliver too much Vitamin D at
one time for the kidneys of Carnivora members.
Macadamia Nuts
Anything sweetened with Xylitol

Sadly, the ASPCA's new site is incredibly hard to search. The one
they used to have was dramatically more user friendly, but luckily,
