Subject: [ferrethealth] Yet another seedy-poop question...
To: Ferret Health <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
Hi everyone,=A0 I understand that the birdseed looking poop of a ferret can=
mean some form of maldigestion, and that you're supposed to put the ferret=
on a highly bland diet for a period of time.=A0 I have a couple of questio=
ns about this.=A0 Diti is my 4 1/2 yr old female, and she's had these birds=
eed poops for a while.=A0 I've tried the bland diets (chicken and turkey ba=
byfood).=A0 I've tried each of these for about 2 weeks and gradually switch=
ed back onto kibble with no results.=A0
My questions are:=A0 What is the *blandest* diet?=A0 And how long does this=
usually take for results to be seen?=A0 Was 2 weeks not long enough?
Thanks,
Andrea

The "birdseeds" actually turn out to be lipid balls,
balls that are largely composed of fats or oils so
cutting back on the amount of those given can
usually help. Lipids are processed in the small
intestine so anything that can inflame or damage
the small intestine, for example ECE, can be among
the causes, as can anything that reduces the ability
to digest lipids.]
