Subject: [ferrethealth] New! Looking into adopting a ferret. Have a few questions.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi! New here.
I just recently decided to adopt a ferret from our local ferret rescue. I've become pretty attached to one boy in particular, however, he is neither neutered nor descented. The couple I'm adopting from said that this was not a big deal. Is that true? Is the smell much worse if he is not neutered? Is it much worse if he isn't descented?
If I were to get him neutered would it change his personality? i.e. one of the reasons I like him so much is that he's full of spunk.
If he's not going to be bred, do I need to have him neutered?
If I do decide to get him neutered when is a good age?
Also, if anyone knows the general cost to get a ferret neutered and descented in Alaska, that would be very helpful.
Thanks so much!
