Re Advantage -

Did a search, and found a recent study in 2008 - amazingly on ferrets - alt=
hough only 16, and it was on the efficacy of Advocate/Advantage multi. Volu=
me of product used was 0.4ml on test group of 8 given 50 fleas on 6 separat=
e occasions, control group was given same flea numbers and untreated. No in=
fo in the abstract of where on the body they placed the dose. They were the=
n followed weekly being flea combed and counted. Abstract did not mention s=
ource of the ferrets other than they were varying weights and ages.

"Efficacy of imidacloprid 10%/moxidectin 1% (Advocate=AE/Advantage Multi=99=
) against fleas (Ctenocephalides felis felis)on ferrets (Mustela putorius f=
uro)

It's an abstract. Like many journal sites you can read the abstract, but ne=
ed subscription or maybe pay for a reprint of the whole article.

Advocate seems to be for both fleas and heartworm. Can one of the moderator=
s comment on why the product has both compounds - Advocate and Advantage in=
it since Advocate seems to cover both fleas and heartworm?

[I don't know. Perhaps one or more of the list
vets, list members, or other moderators will
be able to help with more information.
