re: anal sac inflammation.
Here we had numbers of late alter rescues -- only a few presented problems..
I just want to pass along something that worked VERY WELL.
We took a pail and filled it up (about 5 -6 inches deep with warm
water-- about 110 degrees which is only a fe degrees over body temp
for ferrets and then stood them upright in the warm water.... ( in
most cases they held onto the rim of the bucket by themselves and
enjoyed the spa treatment)
after a few minutes you could see the discoloration of the anal
contents drainig into the warm water.,
For bad cases I did this twice a day. With the help of antibiotics (
baytril) and soaks in many cases we did avoid the surgery.
The surgeries can be complicated as the gland lies right next to a
nerve.. one ferret here had hind end weakness etc due to the cut
being too close to the nerve...
Sending good thoughts to you and the ferrets.
