Subject: [ferrethealth] Rabies vaccine
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I took my ferrets to the vet to get their rabies vaccine on
10/22/09. They seemed fine after getting their vaccine. They were fine for several days after. However, when I came home from work on Thursday November 29, I found Rascal cold and lying in the tube at the bottom of the cage. By then I figured it was too late to save him. Rascal died in my arms several hours later. Tiny is still fine and was playing with me today. Could Rascal's death been caused by the vaccine. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Debbie
[That is way too long afterward to be a reaction.
Reactions happen within minutes usually. A delayed
reaction typically refers to one that occurs hours to
a day or so afterward depending on the species.
Even if you mean a week after the shot instead of
a month and a week that simply does not add up
as being caused by the vaccine.
