Hi Lisa,
If you choose not to do surgery, at least discuss with your vet medically managing her condition with a combination of melatonin and Lupron Depot or Deslorelin. While not a cure it can effectively manage her condition.
There's no guarantee surgery will offer a cure but it is the only hope of a cure.
I think you need to discuss all your available options with your vet, given her age, health, etc.
As already suggested - read through the archives for the wealth of information there. Dr. Murray's posts on medically managing adrenal disease are particularly informative.
