Now, one thing not mentioned in here is that the researcher in the
1930s who contracted seasonal avian influenza from a laboratory ferret
was hold the ferret up to his face and checking the ferret when the
ferret had a massive bout of sneezing all over the man's face.
(People working there had accidently infected the ferrets. Influenza
only rarely passes from ferrets to humans but commonly passes from
humans to ferrets.):

There is just one known ferret fatality from swine flu, and HOW TO
AVOID SPREADING INFLUENZA TO YOUR ANIMALS:

though ferrets have been infected elsewhere and recovered
Note also:

Always be aware that a ferret with influenza might get secondary
pneumonia. There is bacterial pneumonia which antibiotics can help
with, but there is also viral pneumonia (also fungal but that probably
is less likely to be a consideration in this type of situation). Both
pneumonia and pleurisy can remain hidden and not be heard so when
either is possible it really, really, really makes sense to run chest
x-rays.

I am lacking time. The archives has info on dehydration, finger
feeding, steaming, etc.
See:

which is very easy to use and very complete thanks to posters, FHL
vets, and Pam and Eric Sessoms.
