I have just returned from Raleigh (which is where Bruce's vet is located...2.5 hours away):(), They decided to keep him under observation till wednesday. Meanwhile, they did an ultrasound, and took a sample of his spleen (which is enlarged, but had been enlarged since he was a baby), and a ton of blood work. So far a few of the blood tests have revealed nothing. During the physical exam, our vet noticed that one of Bruce's pupils had changed shape. This worried her most. Usually something like this is associated with a neurological disorder. She says he may have allergies, but thinks the underlying issue is something other than that. We have moved four times in the past 4 years with Bruce and his lil sis Lulu, and we have never had allergies bother either of them, I guess there is always a first. I researched the company that steam cleaned our carpets, he used spot treatments in two rooms only, and claimed he didn't use any other chemicals. I went ahead and steamed the carpet
s myself using vinegar (2 weeks ago), still no difference in Bruce's behavior or symptoms. I'm aware that ferrets can't catch the cold, but flu yes. He was checked over (x-ray, temp, etc) about 3 weeks ago and nothing showed there. I'm glad that Bruce is in the best possible hands in NC, but can't help wonder why his symptoms are so scattered, that one, two, or even three possible causes can't be narrowed down. I know these things take time, but seeing Bruce go from a happy boy to this in about a month and a half's time is devastating. Just wanted to give everyone an update on his situation. Thank you all again for the great info, possible what ifs, and prayers. Take care to all.
