I can assure you they are indeed the depot version. My vet checked into this thoroughly prior to making the first purchase, he spoke with the pharmacist directly and in length.

The place we purchase from is a reputable licensed pharmacy, licensed with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. License number is supplied. The lupron is human grade, intended for human consumption, listed as "Lupron Depot Kit - Leuprolide Acetate".

There is another version sold, listed as "Lupron 14 Days Injection Kit (Leuprolide Acetate) 5mg/mL"....this, I do not believe, is the depot version. All others listed/sold are, and are clearly labeled as such.

As mentioned in my previous post, I have been using the generic in my ferrets for around one years time (may be a bit longer, I'd have to check my dates). I buy the three month version, giving injections every 3 months. It lasts three months. If it were not depot it would not last. I have several who show clear signs immediately when the lupron has worn off. I have seen no return of symptoms.

Generic lupron is available, it is the depot version, it is cheaper, and it does work.

Anyone wanting to look into this is welcome to e-mail me for contact information of the pharmacy I use. I'm sure the pharmacist would be more than happy to answer to any inquiries from medical professionals as well, if the vets you've spoken with would like to look into it themselves.
