Subject: [ferrethealth] About tumors
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I have a hob who is aged about 5-6 (he was a rescue so I'm only guessing his age). He has some sort of tumour on his tail about halfway down on the underside. I thought it was a sore from rubbing on the floor of his cage whilst in moult (rat tail) and that it would go away when his fur grew back, well he now has a full coat of winter fur and the "sore" is still there.
Let me describe it to you. Its about 5-7mm, its wet, its protruding and its pink. Its started out like a cyst (clear bubble under the skin) and he has had it in one form or another for about a month. It doesn't seem to bother him and he doesn't lick/scratch it either.
I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow afternoon but I'm very confused by what I'm reading online as nothing sounds right. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I thought maybe a Chordoma but its not hard and its not a lump so much as a bulge (and not being at the tip) and then I thought maybe a apocrine cyst but its not somewhere I'd associate with glands so maybe not that either.
Thanks for any input :)
