Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: About tumors
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I had a ferret that was diagnosed with a mass cell tumor on the underside of his tail in the middle also. It ended up growing, and irritated him (black and bloodish looking). It was surgically removed. Sad thing was that it was bigger than expected and the blood supply was cut off to the end of his tail, so we had to go back a week later and removed the tail end of it. He ended up with a nub that was about 1 1/2 inches long, and when the hair grew back it made him look like a little bear. Several people remarked it was so cute, it might start a new trend. :-)

and sebaceous epithelioma (the most
common ferret skin tumor per pathology
logs) -- and which is what this one was --
