Typical starting levels for the Prednisolone for a ferret with marked
sysmptoms are 1mg/kg two times /day or 0.5 mg/kg three times /day
unless the symptoms are very mild and then the vet may try less, but
you mentioned. You will notice that the dose also depends on weight.

Prednisolone is a better choice than Prednisone because the liver has
to process Prednisone into Prednisolone before it can use it. If the
liver is at all compromised or inflamed then skipping that step is
more effective because a compromised liver will not process all of the
Prednisone. So, Prednisolone rather than Prednisone for ferrets...

Prednisolone comes in varied concentrations. The good point about the
more concentrated versions is that less volume needs to be given, but
it tastes much worse so we often find that giving more but using the
least concentrated version (1 mg/ml) tends to often go in more
effectively.
