If you are having to continually increase his prednisolone dosage relatively quickly, you may be dealing with something more than 'just' insulinoma, such as a carcinoma or pancreatitis. Also, insulinoma as aggressive as this one sounds is pretty rare in a ferret so young, also suggesting something more serious.

Is Boo Boo a candidate for surgery? A good ferret surgeon could remove any visibile nodules on the pancreas, as well as a portion of the pancreas itself where any tiny tumors might be most concentrated. This is the most effective surgery for insulinoma. He would also be able to see at that point if Boo Boo does in fact have anything such as a carcinoma.

Also, as far as you managing his insulinoma most effectively, smaller meals given 4 or so hours apart will help keep his BG levels as steady as possible, and giving the pred 3 times a day, once every 8 hours, is often more effective than giving it twice a day, every 12 hours.
