Hi, Michaela,

First, four is not an =C2=A8older ferret=C2=A8. Ferrets are considered
geriatric at age six but please don tell that to my nearly eight year
old. All of mine are over six and very active and playful.

Second, I=C2=B4ve never heard of a ferret losing hair from going to the
vet. Your ferret is almost certainly ill. Lethargy is a non-specific
symptom. You need to take him to a qualified ferret vet immediately.
Ferrets can go downhill very quickly. This needs to be done ASAP. If
your current vet isn very experienced with ferrets or you have doubts
about him or her then get another recommendation (the shelter can help
you with that) but definitely get him to a ferret tomorrow. If you=C5=95e
here in the U.S. it may be much more difficult or expensive to get
care over the holiday weekend and he may not be able to wait until
after, I cannot stress this urgently enough.

Once again, this list is no substitute for qualified vet care.

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio
(Ella, Zephyr and Chin Soon)
