Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Update - Hills Z/D - constipation?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I had my gal to the ER a couple of weeks ago ... she was heaving (trying
to vomit - but didn't), running laps around the room, in and out of the
little box. I'd noted intermittent diarrhea.

Once at the ER, I was surprised to find her extremely flatulent (she was
sleeping on my chest by then as we waited for poop test results). She had
an intestinal bacteria that causes tons of gas.

10 days of Flagyl later, you'd never have know she was ill.

She won't eat kibble right now (this is her second bout with this
flatulent bacteria thing) - Carnivore Care, Gerber turkey, Gerber chicken about 1/3
each with a shot of FuroVite has done well for her. We also use a
(homeopathic I think) med called Nux Vomica 3-4 times daily (0.15ml for our petite
little gal that's up to 1.75 pounds), 20 mins away from any other
meds/meals. It's done much to calm her tummy.

I mention this because the vet noted the gas on x-rays 10 days prior as
well as stomach wall thickening+ growth in the stomach/intestine area ... so
much so that he though this was what was causing her ills, when in fact, it
was the bacteria simmering in her intestines which was making her more ill.

Hope this helps - that your girl is better quickly.

I have just started the soup mix with part gerber turkey and part z/d with
pumpkin.

Any thoughts or other things to consider?
