I can confirm that 1x4.7mg does last 12 months and has done so in my own ferret Sugar, now at 16 months on second implant after 12 mths.

As for economy in the case of older ferrets, surely 1 implant a year is best. The ferret may succumb to another illness or just old age and the other implant can be used to help another ferret.
