Subject: [ferrethealth] Whats wrong with Jago? blood test results...
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Jago is 2 years old.

He had a ferret GI profile blood test done 12/8/09, and these are the results in the high/low catagory. The rest of the results fell in the "normal" range.

Can anyone explain what going on with my boy?

[Moderator's Note:
sometimes certain ratios tell a lot of info to vets
so giving all results -- including those in normal
ranges -- can be useful.

Also helpful for you and vets:

and

is always good for teaching a lot

plus, this should also be useful:

Results: Reference Range:

Albumin 1.1 (low) 3.4-4.8g/dL

Globulin 3.7 (high) 0.2-2.4g/dL

BUN 84 (high) 10-45mg/dL

Phosphorus 12.5 (high) 3.2-9.5mg/dL

WBC 17.3 (high) 3.5-7.0 thous./uL

RBC 13.51 (high) 6.7-12.1 million/uL

HGB 21.2 (high) 12-18g/dL

Neutrophil seg 61 (high) 31-57%

Monocytes 4 (high) 0-1%

He also had rads done and with his blood test are being review by a ferret knowledgable veterinarian. Prior to his GI profile, we had his glucose checked 3 times all normal & normal on his blood work.

He does eat on his own but not that much, so I feed him a/d and I give him SQ fluids daily. He also gets 5mg pepcid ac/day.

If you have any questions please ask, cuz I want to know whats going on with him.

Thanks and a dook-dook!
